Non medical books - audiobooks in my languages: English, Spanish, Ukrainian, Russian, Czech, Portuguese so far :)

The Little Prince, by Antoine De Saint-Exupéry
PORTUGUESE, 5/5 audiobook, 1h 25min, novel, satire
I’ve already read or listened to The Little Prince in many languages. Now it was Portuguese’s turn - not the strongest of my glosses. Still, it was interesting.

Before The Coffee Gets Cold, by Toshikazu Kawaguchi
ENGLISH, 4/5 audiobook, 6h 52min, novel, not finished
I gave light novellas with elements of fantasy by a popular Japanese writer a chance. Still, it’s not really my format - I prefer hard rather than light science fiction. For example, the trilogy by a Chinese author.

1984, by George Orwell
CZECH and ENGLISH, 4.6/5 book, 200 pages, SciFi, anti-utopia
Who hasn’t heard of 1984? This time, I decided to reread this challenging book in a bilingual format - in two languages at once.

Animal Farm, by George Orwell
CZECH, 4.5/5 audiobook, 3h 46min, novel, satire
A short but piercing story — not about animals, but about people. About the nature of power and the state. A satire not only of inhuman post-revolutionary Russia…

Roadside Picnic, by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky
CZECH, 4.8/5 audiobook, 5h 41min, SciFi classics
Who hasn’t heard of Stalker? One of my favorite science fiction books. It brilliantly conveys not only the world and the philosophical aspects of contact, but also the character of the main protagonist.

Siddhartha, by Hermann Hesse
SPANISH, 4.6/5 audiobook, 4h 17min, novel, philosophy
A thought-provoking novella by a German writer. I listened to it in Ukrainian; now it’s time for Spanish. If you like The Alchemist or The Little Prince, you’ll enjoy this masterpiece as well.

Topology of Violence, by Byung-Chul Han
RUSSIAN, 3.8/5 audiobook, 5h 01min, philosophical
In today’s world, violence extends beyond physical force or intimidation - it takes on hidden forms, often unrecognized as violence, which makes them even more insidious.

The Dark Forest (Remembrance of Earth's Past #2), by Liu Cixin
CZECH, 4.9/5 audiobook, 21h 58min, SciFi
An equally interesting second part of the trilogy. This time I listened to it in an excellent Czech narration.

Death's End (Remembrance of Earth's Past #3), by Liu Cixin
CZECH, 4.7/5 Audiobook, 26h 32min, SciFi
The final part of an excellent trilogy and the conclusion of an epic story. A story that raises many fundamental questions: about human nature, the nature of the Other, and our place in this unimaginably vast universe.

The Burnout Society, by Byung-Chul Han
RUSSIAN, 4.6/5 book, 160 pages, philosophical
The best‑known work of a modern German philosopher of Korean descent - a penetrating study of late‑capitalist society, which I picked up after reading The Era of Burnout Superheroes.

The Crisis of Narration, by Byung-Chul Han
RUSSIAN, 4.4/5 book, 160 pages, philosophical
Stories and narratives shape our lives, yet in postmodern society we are losing them - and with them, the meaning they once conveyed.

The Scent of Time: A Philosophical Essay on the Art of Lingering, by Byung-Chul Han
RUSSIAN, 4.0/5 book, 150 pages, philosophical
Another philosophical essay about something almost elusive and its scent, about time, contemplation, and meaning.

The Three-Body Problem (Remembrance of Earth's Past #1), by Liu Cixin
ENGLISH, 4.9/5 Audiobook, 13h 25min, SciFi
The first book in a trilogy by a Chinese science fiction writer. As a big fan of sci‑fi, I really enjoyed it. Full of fresh, unexpected ideas and a gripping plot. Highly recommended.

Anaximander: And the Nature of Science, by Carlo Rovelli
ENGLISH, 4.7/5 audiobook, 5h 43min, science, physics, antient history
A fascinating work by a renowned Italian physicist, shedding light on the very pioneer of modern science. If his name is new to you, that’s all the more reason to dive in.

We Have No Idea: A Guide to the Unknown Universe, by Jorge Cham , Daniel Whiteson
CZECH, 4.0/5 Audiobook, 10h 50min, science, physics, not finished
A good popular science book on physics, cosmology, and the complex questions about the very nature of our reality.

The Era of Burnout Superheroes: How Self-Improvement Became a Cult and the Pursuit of Happiness Led Us to a Dead End, by Alexey Solovyov
RUSSIAN, 4.4/5 book, 230 pages, philosophical, self-help
An interesting book about modern society and its ailments.

Tales from One Pocket, by Karel Čapek
CZECH, 4.3/5 Book, 152 pages, 24 stories, not finished
Short humorous detective stories by a well-known Czech writer. An ironic look at the realities of life at the beginning of the twentieth century.

Tao: The Watercourse Way, by Alan W. Watts
RUSSIAN, 4.6/5 audiobook, 4h 33min, philosophical, Taoism
A small but very profound, unfinished book by a famous philosopher. As for me, my own practice of Qigong inspired me to explore the Taoist view of the world more deeply. I think that over time, I will also listen to his other book, The Way of Zen.

The Stranger, by Albert Camus
SPANISH, 4.0/5 audiobook, 2h 58min, novel, philosophy, not finished
A well-written short story. Maybe I wasn't in the right mood for reading it - perhaps I'll return to it later in another language.

Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis, by J.D. Vance
ENGLISH, 3.8/5 Audiobook, 6h 49min, memoir, biography, not finished
I was interested in learning more about the hillbilly phenomenon itself and their worldview. As for the author, he is a deeply traumatized person since childhood, clearly not someone who should be teaching others about life.

Commentarii de Bello Gallico (Commentaries on the Gallic War), Julius Caesar
RUSSIAN, 4.5/5 audiobook, 8h 52min, history, memoir
I enjoyed the memoirs, they are written in a lively language with many interesting details about life during the conquest of Gaul. A must-read for anyone interested in Ancient Rome.

Wind, Sand and Stars, by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
UKRAINIAN, 4.6/5 Audiobook, 6h 24min, memoir
A profound book of reflections on life by a renowned author. The reflections unfold against a fascinating backdrop: the heroic age of aviation, boundless empires, and the wild tribes of the Sahara, a struggle on the edge of death, and the choice to embrace life in its fullest understanding.
